STL Golf Tournament Update

Last Saturday was a great day for Speed The Light. We had our first annual STL Golf Tournament, and we raised more than $6,000. God is so good, and we are looking forward to surpassing our 2008 goal very soon. Be praying with us that God will help us raise our $50,000 goal for 2009. Thanks!

FINE ARTS 2009

Last night we took some time to honor all of the students who were involved with Fine Arts. They all did such an incredible job and we are so proud of them. We had 5 Superior Ratings, 34 Superior with Invitation, and 10 1st place Merit Award Winners. Not bad for a first year showing!

ORDINATION 2009

Reverend Daniel R. Day

Many of my close friends in the ministry (ministers I went to school with) do not see the point in being Ordained. They say that they can do everything that an Ordained minister can do as a Licensed Minister or even as a Certified Minister, and that my friends is a horrible attitude to have.

I would encourage all of my friends out there who feel this way to read THIS blog by Pastor John Lindell of James River Assembly.

EL PASO SECTIONAL YOUTH RALLY

Tonight we will be hosting our first EL Paso Sectional Youth Rally of the Year. We are expecting youth from all over the city to be here, and I would simply ask you to pray for a great move of God tonight. I will give an update later as things develop.

I AM GRATEFUL

I am about to turn in for the night after watching an awesome movie with my beautiful wife Sara, and as I ponder where we are in life I can truly say that I am grateful. God is so good. He is faithful through and through. God has provided everything we need. A comfortable home, peace, stability, a loving relationship, and he has blessed us with a soon coming baby.

When I survey our lives and ministry, I stand in wonder of the faithfulness of God. He is so good and worthy of praise.

How Is Your Fire?

This Morning I read through both letters to the Thessalonians. In 1 Thessalonians 5:19 it says Do not put out the Spirit's fire. It is truly the prayer of my heart that I would never lose the passion I have for God. I never want to become someone who was once on fire for God, but somehow aloud that fire to die out. God in his grace has made me someone who loves Him, His Word, and His Spirit more than anything else in this world. But there are many ways that we can let the fire die out if we are not careful.

1) Hanging Out With The Wrong People: 2 Thes. 3:6 says In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. If you hang out with people who have no passion for God, it is only a matter of time before you too become a fireless Christian.

2) If You Do Not Pray: 1 Thes. 5:17 simply instructs us to PRAY CONTINUALLY. If we don't pray we will become disconnected from the very life source of our fire. Prayer is not simply asking God to bless you, your family, and a few close friends. Prayer is crying out before God on behalf of someone else. It is standing in the gap between God and your city/state/country and literally crying out for mercy. If you are a Pastor and you do not shed tears over your city I admonish you to from 2 Timothy 1:6 For this very reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God...

3) If You Don't Listen To Jesus: In 1 John chapter 1 Jesus is referred to as the Word of Life. How do we listen to God? How can we be fore sure that God is speaking to us? I heard someone say recently that Jesus opens his mouth to speak to us every time we open the Bible. By opening the Bible you are opening the mouth of God. If you don't open your Bible everyday then it is no wonder you feel like he isn't speaking to you. The Scripture is the bread of life to our spirit. Without this Word of Life our fire has no life at all.

We must hang out with people of passion (passion for God that is), We must pray continually. We must get into the word of God. If we do these things we will be well on our way to living a life of passion for God. If the wood on your fire is wet, maybe you need to go back to the basics and seek God with all that you have. Blessings.
